The Purely Tallow Way
Why animal oils?
Why Animal Oils? For thousands of years, people cared for their skin using simple, natural fats and oils long before modern skincare existed. While today's beauty industry often relies on long ingredient lists, synthetic additives, and heavily processed plant oils, we believe some of the most nourishing skincare ingredients are the same ones our ancestors trusted for generations. Animal-based oils are uniquely compatible with human skin because they contain many of the same fatty acids, nutrients, and compounds naturally found in our skin barrier. They help support moisture, strengthen the skin's protective layer, and deliver nutrients in a form the body can easily recognize and utilize. At Purely Tallow, we carefully select animal-derived ingredients that have stood the test of time and offer exceptional benefits for healthy skin. 100% Grass-Fed Beef Tallow Grass-fed beef tallow is the foundation of many of our products—and for good reason. Tallow closely resembles the composition of human skin oils, making it one of the most compatible moisturizers available. Rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, tallow helps support skin elasticity, hydration, and overall skin health. Its balanced fatty acid profile allows it to deeply nourish without leaving the skin feeling greasy or clogged. We source only 100% grass-fed beef tallow to ensure the highest quality and nutrient content possible. Emu Oil Emu oil has been prized for centuries for its remarkable ability to penetrate deeply into the skin. Unlike many oils that sit on the surface, emu oil absorbs efficiently, helping deliver moisture where it is needed most. Naturally rich in omega fatty acids, it supports soft, supple skin and is often favored by those with dry, irritated, or sensitive skin. Its lightweight feel makes it an excellent ingredient for products designed to provide deep nourishment without heaviness. Lanolin Lanolin is a protective wax naturally produced by sheep to keep their wool soft and weather-resistant. In skincare, it is renowned for its ability to attract and retain moisture. Lanolin forms a breathable barrier that helps prevent water loss while allowing the skin to remain soft and flexible. Because of its exceptional moisturizing properties, it is often used to soothe dry, cracked skin and is especially popular in products designed for babies and nursing mothers. Beeswax Beeswax does far more than provide texture and structure. This natural wax creates a protective barrier on the skin that helps lock in moisture while still allowing the skin to breathe. Beeswax contains naturally occurring compounds that support skin comfort and resilience, making it an ideal ingredient for balms, salves, and intensive moisturizers. It works synergistically with oils and fats to create long-lasting hydration and protection from environmental stressors. Wild Camel Hump Fat Camel hump fat has been valued in traditional cultures for generations and is one of nature's most unique skincare ingredients. The fat stored in a camel's hump contains a rich concentration of fatty acids and nutrients that help support healthy, nourished skin. It is known for its smooth texture, excellent moisturizing properties, and ability to complement other animal-based ingredients. We use wild camel hump fat to bring an additional layer of richness and diversity to our formulations, creating products that are deeply nourishing and unlike anything found in conventional skincare. Returning to Simplicity Our philosophy is simple: use ingredients that serve a purpose and eliminate everything that doesn't. By combining time-tested animal-based ingredients with thoughtful formulation, we create skincare that nourishes the skin without relying on fillers, synthetic additives, or unnecessary complexity. Nature has already provided many of the ingredients our skin recognizes best. Sometimes the most effective skincare isn't about adding more—it's about returning to what has worked all along.
